Monitoring on a Knox mic?

Wondering if that potential purchase will do what you think it'll do? Hoping someone has a solution to that wiring idea you have. Ask and discuss here. Please consult the Gear and Equipment Reviews board instead of asking "what is your favorite" style topics.

Monitoring on a Knox mic?

Post by In the 906 » Sat Sep 09, 2017 6:28 am

Apologies for asking a second question in a row...

My cohost and I have a pair of Knox microphones in the same room, running to a Zoom H5 (great gizmo!!).

While the mic has a outlet for monitoring, it only seems to work when plugged directly into the computer (via USB).

For monitoring, we use a splitter connected to the monitoring port on the H5.

Am I missing how to monitor directly from this particular model of mic?

If the Knox doesn't monitor in our current config, is there any downside to the two of us monitoring off of the Zoom?

You are correct, the Knox Podcast microphone must be plugged into USB to monitor.
As for monitoring from the Zoom H5, if there is no latency, it works great.

That is exactly how I would set it up.

The monitoring 3.5 mm port is on the bottom of the microphone.
